I always say that I love the fact that my photography gets me into places I wouldn't ever get everyday access. 12Hayhill maybe one of those places. Located smack bang in the middle of Mayfair, London, it's a private member club for those who want great food, friendly networking and cocktails. It's also an event venue.
So when their exec chief asks me back to shoot the new interiors and exteriors, as well as the new menu, who was I to say no.
They have just opened the terrace with a new bar and dining area. The challenge was to give the feeling of high summer on a day that was cold and cloudy. Also, to provide a hint of a view without showing the neighbouring buildings that overlook the area.
After the exterior and interior shots were in the 'can', there was a small window to shoot the food. I prefer to use natural daylight for food but the today and available space didn't allow to that. I set up a large softbox as a 'window' and quickly shot the menu as the chefs prepared. Not ideal, but needs must.
Post-production added the magic of the non-existent sun, and they had their set to help spread the word.
